Rent a furnished cottage right on a quiet beach at the east cost of Sri Lanka. Four bedrooms (with a double bed in each bedroom) with attached baths in each bedroom, wooden floors, open living area, detached open dinning area with newly built kitchen, spread over 80 sq meters on a 1000 sq meters land. The garden is sandy with a number of grown up palm trees. The house is furnished with cold water, electricity, kitchen with cutlery, gas cooker, electric kettle, electric fans, refrigerator, paved parking area and paths, right on the beach in the Komari village, in proximity to the most eastern point of the island at Sangamankanda Lighthouse. Enjoy the most beautiful sunrises. Please note there is no hot water, no A/C, no wifi, no washing machine. Water in Srilanka is newer too cold however. With regards to the internet I recommend you to purchase a SIM card, from one of the mobile operators, which can be purchase right at the airport or in any larger city. The coverage is good and the prices are low. We normally use operator Dialog.lk.
The bungalow is not a typical hotel or a guest house, so you will enjoy its privacy. The house is never rented to more than one customer at the same time. It is an ideal place for family holidays. It has no reception, however, there is a dedicated watchman who lives in the same street. He does not speak much English but he will help you around. Upon a request, we could arrange a cook for you so you could enjoy the traditional Sri Lankan cuisine or you can have the meals delivered from the local restaurant which is fairlry tasty and cheap... we can recommend.
Located right at the most eastern beaches of Sri Lanka in a fishing village of Komari at the Vanniyasingam road (Google Maps). You will enjoy the breath taking sunrises and bathing in the rough sea near the windsurfers well known Arugam Bay. The Komari village (komari or kumari means princess) is located near the larger Pottuvil town in the Ampara district of the Eastern Province. Komari is located about 350 km from the Colombo airport or 220 km from Kandy. Besides infinite walks on the lonely beaches, you can enjoy trips to the Urani or Komari lagoons, visit the most eastern point of Sri Lanka at the Sangamankanda Lighthouse, enjoy the boat safari at the Urani lagoon to watch the mangrove trees, water birds, crocodiles, and wild elephants. You may also want to visit the Kumana national park, or, if you like more metropolitan beach life, the well known Arugam Bay.
Srilanka is a tropical island located near equator so it doesn't have the typical seasons. Average temperature at the area ranges between 30 (day max) to 25 (night min) centigrade throughout the year. Sri Lanka is influenced by two main rainy seasons April/May and October/November.
Public bus service (Pottuvil - Batticola) is 2 minutes away at the main road of A4. The buses run about every 30 minutes. The three wheeler taxi service is available as well. A 7+1 seat car (Toyota TownAce minivan) with a driver can be hired.
If you like to travel by public bus from Colombo or from Kandy it is possible either via the south route thru the Hambantota Highway (Komari-Pottuvil, Pottuvil-Monaragala, Monaragala-Colombo, or Monaragala-Kandy) or via the west route thru Kandy (Komari-Ampara, Ampara-Colombo, or Ampara-Kandy)
A Singhalese / English speaking delegate, house keeper, and a cook can be arranged upon request.
The rent for the whole house is 1 500 CZK / house / day, which is about 20 000 LKR or 65 EUR or 70 USD. For single travellers, couples, or long term stays special rates apply.
Maximum house occupancy is 8 adult guests. We never rent the house to more than one customer at the same time so you will enjoy your privacy.
