Introduction

Rent a furnished bungalow in the cool climes up in the hills (780 m above sea level) of a tea estate in Sri Lanka. Three spacious bedrooms (with two beds in each bedroom) with attached bath, tiled floors, large living & dining areas, balcony, verandah, garage & quarters for the care-taker spread over 230 sq meters on a 80 perch (2000 sq meters) land. The garden is full of exotic plants - mango, banana, papaya, aloe vera, jackfruit, clove tree, pepper, king coconut, sweet potato, etc. The bungalow is furnished with hot & cold water, electricity, kitchen with cutlery, gas cooker, automatic laundry washing machine, electric fans, TV set, DVD mini system, tarred road etc. in proximity to the Nillambe Meditation Center. Nice panoramic view of the misty hills, tea estates & shady pine groves.

The bungalow is not a typical hotel or a guest house, so you will enjoy its privacy. The house is never rented to more than one customer at the same time. It is an ideal place for a family holidays. It has no reception, however, there is a watchman who lives in a completely separate area of the house with its own bath room. He does not speak English, guards the house plus takes care of the garden. Upon a request, we could arrange a cook for you so you could enjoy the traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. We could also arrange a minivan with a driver.

Location

Located (Google Maps) in the cool hills of Nillambe (often spelled as Nillamba) in the district of Kandy (Central Province) 125 km from Colombo, the commercial capital of Sri Lanka, 18 km from Kandy. Nuwara Eliya - known as "Little England” heavily carpeted with lush green tea is just 60 km away. Among other attractions in the area are the Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya, and Loolecondera estate, the first tea plantation in Ceylon. The Bungalow has a panoramic view and is tastefully designed by an architect built on spilt level with a lot of fruit plants around near the Peradeniya - Galaha road B364 which runs across the most beautifully designed Peradeniya University Campus with magnificent views of Ambuluwawa and Bhadravathi Temple.

Srilanka is a tropical island located near equator so it doesn't have the typical seasons. Average temperature at the area ranges between 18-25 degrees centigrade (day max 32C, night min 18C) throughout the year. Sri Lanka is influenced by two main rainy seassons April/May and October/November.

Transport

Public bus service (bus number 633: Kandy - Galaha - Deltota) is 5 minutes away at the Gurukele Junction. The busses run about every 30 minutes to and from Kandy. The ride takes about 50 minutes. The three wheeler taxi service is available as well. A 7+1 seat car (Toyota TownAce minivan) with a driver can be hired.

A Singhalese / English speaking delegate, house keeper, and a cook can be arranged upon request.

Price list

The rent for the whole house is 1 500 CZK / house / day, which is about 20 000 LKR or 65 EUR or 70 USD. For single travellers, couples, or long term stays special rates apply.

Minimum stay is 2 days. Maximum house occupancy which we allow is 6 guests. We never rent the house to more than one customer at the same time so you will enjoy your privacy.

The rent include usage of the house and the garden, electricity, water, cooking gas, and the salary of the security guard.
